Cookie policy

The short answer: we use a single cookie, to remember your choice, and only count visits if you allow it. All the details are below.

Cookie policy of the InterConnections website

Version 1.0Last updated: 15 October 2026

This text is awaiting legal review.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser and reads again on later visits. There are similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage or small programs that measure visits. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of these technologies.

Some cookies are necessary for the website to work. Others are used, for example, to count visits or show advertising: we only use those with your permission.

2. The cookie this website uses

This website stores a single cookie and does not use cookies from other websites. Neither the website nor the cookie banner stores data in the browser’s local storage. The cookie’s details:

Name
ic_consentimento
Category
Strictly necessary
Set by
This website (it is a first-party cookie, on the InterConnections domain).
Purpose
To store your cookie choice, so that we do not ask you again on every page and so that we can demonstrate the consent you gave.
What it stores
The categories you accepted, the revision of the categories, the language, a random identifier, and the dates of your first choice and of your last change.
Duration
182 days (about 6 months) from your last choice. After that, we ask you again.
Attributes
It is only sent over secure connections (HTTPS), applies to the whole website and has SameSite=Lax protection, which limits its sending in requests coming from other websites.

It is used for nothing else, does not track your browsing on other websites and is not shared with third parties.

3. The categories

The cookie banner and the preferences group cookies and tools into three categories:

Strictly necessary (always on)
Only the ic_consentimento cookie. It cannot be switched off, because it is what stores your choice, including a refusal.
Statistics (only with your permission)
Vercel Web Analytics counts visits and the most viewed pages. It uses no cookies: it recognises each visit, for no more than 24 hours, by a code calculated from the request, which is then deleted. The data is aggregated (page viewed, referring page, country, region and city, device type, operating system and browser) and does not identify visitors.
Marketing (only with your permission)
We do not use any marketing or advertising tools today. If we ever do, they will only run with your permission: before switching one on, we will update this policy and ask for your choice again.

4. How you choose

On your first visit, a banner at the bottom of the screen explains what we use and has two buttons:

“Accept all”
Switches on statistics and marketing (currently without any tools) and saves your choice.
“Don’t accept…”
Switches nothing on and opens the preferences, where you choose category by category.

In the preferences, each category has a switch and a description. You can choose “Accept all”, “Reject all” (strictly necessary only) or “Save choices” (the categories you switched on).

Until you choose, we store nothing in your browser and statistics stay off. If you close the preferences without choosing, we store nothing and the banner appears again on the next page.

Search engine bots do not see the banner. Without JavaScript, the banner does not appear and statistics do not run.

5. How to change your choice

You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie preferences” button, which is in the footer of every page and also here:

Your new choice applies from the next page: if you withdraw permission for statistics, we stop counting your visits from that page onwards.

We ask for your choice again after 182 days and whenever we change the categories or tools in a way that means your previous choice no longer applies.

6. How to delete or block cookies in your browser

You can also view, delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you delete the ic_consentimento cookie, the banner appears again on your next visit. If you block all cookies, the website cannot remember your choice and will ask again.

The exact steps vary from browser to browser and from version to version. The help pages of the most widely used browsers explain them:

Back to contents

We store the ic_consentimento cookie on the basis of InterConnections’ legitimate interest in respecting and demonstrating your choice (Law no. 22/11 of 17 June, Article 12(2)(e)), because it is strictly necessary for that purpose.

Visitor statistics and any marketing tool only run with your prior, free, specific, explicit and informed consent (Article 5(a) and Article 12(1)(a) of the same law), which you may withdraw at any time.

We also respect the rights to privacy of personal information and to security on the Internet recognised by Law no. 23/11 of 20 June (Electronic Communications and Information Society Services Law, Article 15). As a precaution, we ask for your permission before using any tool that is not strictly necessary.

8. Third-party tools and transfers

Vercel Web Analytics is provided by Vercel Inc., in the United States of America, which also hosts the website and processes visit data on behalf of InterConnections. The privacy policy explains the recipients, transfers outside Angola and your rights.

Websites linked from this website, such as maps, have their own cookie policies, which we do not control.

9. Changes to this policy

We update this policy whenever we change the website’s cookies or tools. The version in force is the one published on this page, with the version number and the date of the last update at the top of the document. If a change requires a new choice, the banner appears again.
